Deaf Awareness Week
This week we have been celebrating Deaf Awareness Week. We had a special assembly with Joanna Buck, a teacher of the deaf from Lewisham. She spoke about how important using sign language is and taught the children a few different words. The children also looked at different deaf composers in this weeks Composer of the Week powerpoint. I spoke to a number of children who said that they enjoyed Beethoven the most out of the different composers they studied – very apt in this week of the 200th anniversary of Ode to Joy!
