Black History Month Assembly
As part of our Black History Month celebrations, we were honoured to be joined by two special guests for our assembly on Monday: Gwen, our school governor, and her friend Onone. They shared their personal stories of migrating to Britain, with Ms Quintyn-Williams arriving from the Caribbean as part of the Windrush generation and Onone migrating from Africa. During the assembly, they discussed the push and pull factors that influenced their and their families’ decisions to make the journey to the UK. They spoke about what they miss most about their countries of origin and what they love about their new homes in Britain. It was a powerful and insightful session that helped deepen our understanding of migration and the important contributions of Black individuals and communities to British society.
